Peak Bagging: Mt. Tom, Mt. Field, and Mt. Willey
Another beautiful day, another day for peak bagging! Today I crossed off three more 4K’s: Mt. Tom, Mt. Field, and Mt. Willey. I started around 8 AM which was a little later than I had intended but hey, sometime’s you hit that snooze button.
It was a beautiful pre summer, summer day and there were lots of people out on the trail.
I knew that Mt. Tom was going to be a viewless summit- but I didn’t realize that Mt. Field and Mt. Willey would be too. When I did my research, I originally only looked up Mt. Tom and then a trail map on how the three peaks are connected. I’m definitely someone who hikes for views so it was a little disappointing to be greeted by three piles of rocks, but it is what it is! But on the plus side, there were some gray jays hanging around the summits that were fun to watch and there were still viewing outcrops. One can bag Mt. Avalon on this trip as well via a spur path, but I chose to skip it because I was getting tired.
