The Hemlock Hideout

The Hemlock Hideout is a true gem in the woods of New Hampshire. This New Hampshire AirBnb is a safari-style-tent treehouse at the entrance of the Platt Family’s 100 acres in Salisbury. It was designed and built by one of their seven children, and you can tell it was designed and built with care.

The treehouse has a kitchenette and dining table in the front, and then a comfortable queen bed in the back. It is a bit like a studio apartment and is super cozy. The treehouse streams in natural light from expansive windows and a greenhouse ceiling so you can see the trees above. Underneath the treehouse is a swinging bench, and a small brook runs through the site.

Kitchenette

The kitchenette is fully stocked with the necessary cooking utensils. There were disposable utensils as well as regular metal ones, plates, bowls, a mixing bowl, a pot and pan, knife, can opener, mugs, stemless wine glasses, and even two champagne flutes! You’ve got the option of a single burner camp stove or build your own campfire. There is no running water but they provide potable water in the kitchenette, outdoor washroom, and by the fire. If you need your coffee to get going in the morning, they’ve got ground Starbucks coffee. Not into coffee? They’ve got tea and hot cocoa. Oh- and they put out a little s’mores kit!

Sleeping Arrangements

A queen bed with a proper mattress and bedding is definitely part of what makes glamping, glamping. The bed was comfortable and I am a total sucker for linen….and the duvet cover was a beautiful deep sage green linen. One side of the bedroom wall has two windows, while the other wall is a floor to ceiling window looking out into the woods.

Outhouse

Ok..first can I say- why do outhouses always have a moon carved into the door? I’m sure I can find the answer on Google but I’m just musing… Anyways, the outhouse at the Hemlock Hideout was clean as a whistle and was a wood-shaving outhouse. Aka- do your business, put wood shavings ontop and be on your merry way. Almost all of the glamping AirBnB’s I’ve been to have had this. On the outside was a sink and mirror. No running water but a splash of cold water on your face is good for you!

There was also an outdoor shower which uses a hanging camp shower. I didn’t use it, so I can’t really say much about it. They do provide shower towels!

Outside

Under the tree house is a swinging bench. It’s just…peaceful. There is also a brook that runs through the treehouse site and there are two mini boardwalks that you cross over to get from the car to the treehouse. (From the car to the treehouse is like two stone throws away, super close). I really enjoyed the brooks as it added a nice aesthetic to the site and I also really enjoyed the sound of the water.

The campfire site has two Adirondack chairs, a live-edge picnic table, a grate for the campfire, cooking sticks, and firewood.
