Red Rocks Isn't Just for Concerts: Trading Post Trail at Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Red Rocks Amphitheatre is 30 minutes outside of Denver and has a capacity of 9,500. It is a notable venue as it is built into the massive red rocks caused by iron oxide and pink feldspar. It’s an iconic venue that has hosted a plethora of popular musicians over the years and it’s website says it is “the only naturally-occurring, acoustically perfect amphitheatre in the world”.

We stopped here on the way from Breckenridge to the Denver airport. Initially we were just going to check out the amphitheatre, but we had the time to walk around on the trails. The park is 738 acres and adjacent to the amphitheatre there is the opportunity for a brief walk/hike.

We took the Trading Post Trail, going clockwise on the trail. It’s an easy 1.4 mile trail that is relatively flat, but it does have uneven terrain so wearing at minimum sneakers would be beneficial! There is no shade, so on a sunny day make sure to pack a hat and some sunscreen.
